College class trip

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am trying to plan a class trip to Panama for 8-10 days. Any suggestions of places to see & must do's would be greatly appreciated. Not necessary to stay in Panama city the whole time. Thanks so much for any advice.

What age are the students?

This is a college class. So the ages vary, but mostly 18-early 20's. Since we are at the beginning of planning I don't know how many will be going. I suspect 10-20 people in all. It will take place in May or June.

Prior to this trip I knew almost nothing about Panama. This country seems like such a great place that now I want to go with just me & my son as well (more freedom than on a gruop trip). Just got back from Costa Rica which was also great.

2 days: In Panama City.

2-3 days: Drive west to the Azuero, through Los Santos and Las Tablas, down to Pedasí, with a couple overnights along the way.

2-3 days back up the middle of the Azuero to Boquete and Volcan.

1-2 days: Drive east back toward PC, with side-stops in either Santa Fe or El Valle or both.

1-2 days: Back in Panama City.

That would give you a good variety of history, mountains, and beach, plus a few days to explore PC and enjoy the nightlife there (which I suspect will be the college kids' favorite part <g>).

The downside here is that it doesn't show you the Caribbean side -- but from PC you could make a day trip to San Lorenzo or Portobelo or both.
