Only 2 days in Panama City - what are must sees?

My husband-to-be I will be honeymooning in Panama in September (mostly in Bocas). Our flight arrives in Panama City at noon and we fly to Bocas Del Toro at 3 the next day. On the return we get back to Panama City in the evening and our flight home doesn't leave until 5. We will be staying at the Marriot on both legs. I am wondering what the must sees are that we will have time to squeeze in to those two days? Definitely want to see the canal and check out the nightlife - otherwise we are pretty open. Thanks!!

First day:

Morning:

Visit the Casco Viejo and stroll around, enjoy it. Then take a taxi to the top of Ancon Hill for great views of the City and surroundings.

Miraflores locks of Panama Canal

--------------------------------

Go around 2 pm, first visit the exhibition at the visitor center, then, say about 4 pm. go to the terrace of the restaurant on the 2nd floor order a big jug of Sangria and start enjoying the spectactular view of vessels transiting the locks

After that, say 7 pm. go dining at the Causeway. Have the taxi drop you of at El Ranchito and stroll down to the last island for dinner at Albertos, in front of the marina.

2nd day

Visit an Embera village

------------------------

Awesome too. Check Embera Village Tours. Highly recommended by our guests. This will take a full day.

The Marriott is a great base in PC for checking out nightlife & dining.

A few suggestions:

First don't eat at the Marriott, within one block you have a lot of great choices:

Upscale : you can dine at the Bristol's restaurant, very nice upscale, prices arn't bad by US standards.

10 Bistro - just around the corner, more hip than the Bristol, very good food, smaller portions.

Cafe Azul - out the door and up the street a half block, more cusual but good food.

Beirut - mid-east food - across the street to the right.

You can walk to all of them.

Nightlife:

Calle Uruguay is about a 2 minute taxi ride away or about 5 blocks. Lots of Clubs, don't go before midnight(Wdnesday -Saturday nights)

Check out - Guru(gurupanama.com)Koas, Sahara , all fun places to go.

casinos - the Marriott's isn't bad about 4 blocks up from the Marriott across Via Espana is the Veneto and the Fiesta casino, both are more livlier than the Marriott's.

Don't take the cabs in from n of the hotel, walk down the street a few feet and grab one.

Habanos right across the street from the hotel has a great selectiono of cigars if your husband is in to that sort of thing. However don't let the husband check it out after 9pm, it has a large selection Colombianas when it gets late,

Finally, the Marriott is very nice, rooms and bathrooms are large, it has a small pool and a great gym. I stay there frequently and the service is almost always excellent.

Forgot,

Check out the Wine Bar, across from the Veneto, good food, great sangria, usually have live jazz.

Also the bar at the Radisson is pretty cool, one of the places to be seen before going to a Club or after dinner.

I was a newbie to Panama this summer. My favorite thing about PC is Casco Viejo. Since you are on a honeymoon I might suggest a cozy, quaint restaurant in Casco Viejo called Mostaza. The quaintness of this part of town and the restaurant would be perfect for a honeymoon. It was one of my favorites. If you go to Casco Viejo for dinner, go early while the sun is still shining so you can enjoy the color and splendor of the area. BTW- I've been here 3 times and none of my cab drivers knew where Mostaza was and they will tell you this up front. Don't fret, cab drivers will go out of their way and ask locals to get you where you need to go.
