Miraflores Visitor Center - Restaurant

Looking for a restaurant with a great view. Have read about the restaurant near/in the Miraflores Visitor Center. Can anyone give me the name of it and maybe a website to look it up? Had read (somewhere, but can't remember) to make reservations in advance for the outside seating (great view of city & canal).

Any assistance or other suggestions?

It has a great set up to see the canal/locks. If you're not interested in the canal, maybe not worth it. Food is so-so. It's run by the El Panama Hotel. You must sit outside if you go. Phone from the U.S. 011(507)232-3120 or 232-31222. If you call the day of, it may be full, so call in advance.

Only worth it if you can sit outside. Lots of selection on the buffet but food is prettty average, price is a bit high for Panama, However with that being said, if you can get an outside seat and arrive around 1-2pm, it is a great place to have a leisurely lunch and watch the canal, have a couple of drinks and spend about 2 hours.

If you can't secure the outside seating skip it. Go to the obeservation area and hopefully there will be a ship passing through, the museum there is pretty good.

Head over to Mi Ranchito on the causeway for lunch with a nice view across the water to downtown PC

If you are interested in the canal is a good option, the view definetley is great, but in my opinion not the best food. Another option would be the Alligators Restaurant at the Gamboa Rain Forrest Resort, a super view of the Gatun Lake at the Canal and the food is much better.

Only to echo what's already been said. You have to have a seat outside to really appreciate it but the heat can sometimes be bothersome. The food is nothing to write home about but we often book a table, have a couple beers and ceviche and not a full lunch. Leave about 2 hours as its a slow process as the ships transit. Previous reply mentions the restaurant at Gamboa. If you've seen the movie "Tailor of Panama" it is the same restaurant that Pierce Brosnan has lunch at with the other British Embassy Officer and the ships are going by in the background. Very nice view and the food is better than the Miraflores restaurant but still overpriced in my budgeted opinion.
