Taxi fair and safety in Managua

Hola, We have planned to fly into Managua, stay the night and pick up our rental car the next morning. The hotel(near zona hippa) wants $17 per person to pick us up at the airport. We would opt to get a taxi at the airport, but I have heard stories about Taxis picking up more people and robbing the passangers. Should we pay the hotel $34. for a ride from the airport? Is there a distinct Cab service we could trust? Like, color of the cab, licenses plate, name, etc.?

What hotel will that be? for US$34.00 you can go all the way to Granada. That will be another option for you, instead of spneding one night in Managua, come to Granada for the night and arrange the pick up of the vehicle in Granada, if the rent a car company is one that has an office in Granada, the service will be free, Budget Rent a Car, Alamo, Avis are soem of the rent a car companies in Granada. If you take the taxi from the airport, Just make sure that the driver is presentable, good condition of the car.

We were incorrect on the price. It will be $17 per couple to pick us up at the airport, which is more digestable. I still would like to know if there is anything more to look for to pick a reputable cab service.

It's true about the stories of the taxis pickup, so stay away from them, but, if you're staying the night in Managua, stay at one of the hotels near de the airport, they'll pick you up. (Best Western Las Mercedes across the street) or (Camino Real just 5 minutes away) what time are you arriving?

If you still have time and wanna go to know Managua night life at zona Hippos, the hotel have car to take you there. Granada is to far away and the road is a little treachearous for a trip during the night, more than one hour all you get to see is darkness, a flat tire, forget about it.

$17 for both is a good deal. Do it! There are taxis in the airport that charge even more, and the ones outside are a bit dangerous. Definetely go for the hotel transportation
