We are very excited to be traveling next week (Thanksgiving) to visit our daughter who is doing a semester abroad in El Salvador. She is having a fabulous experience and is already feeling very sad about it ending on Dec 15.

She is living near UCA in the Antiguo Cuscatlan and we will be staying at the Alicante nearby. We would love to treat her to some fun restaurants(lunch or dinner) during our 6 night stay. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated and I promise to post after we return! Thank you!

You could head to La Gran Via or Multiplaza Malls. These are nearby from each other. Also to Plaza Futura in Escalon. They have many dining options. There are also La Ola Beto's restaurants in San Benito and Escalon district for seafood. If she were a carnivore like me, La Pampa also in San Benito Zona Rosa and at the end of Escalon district, or Churrasquerias (eat all you can) in Plaza Futura or at Intercontinental Hotel. In Zona Rosa is high end A Lo Nuestro - local food fusioned with international cuisine. For straight local food there is pupusas street stands at El Mirador near Planes de Renderos (with a view to the city). Also on the way up to Planes de Renderos there is a Bella Vista restaurant with view to the city. Italian restaurants in Escalon: Il Pommodoro, Pasquale, El Rosal - there is another one in San Benito half a block from the Princess hotel. Chinese: Escalon: Hunan - San Benito: Chinatown.

Hi RoqueMocan, I wanted to report back after our 6 night visit with our daughter in San Salvador. We really like the neighborhood where she lives, Antiguo Cuscatlan and we stayed at the Alicante Guesthouse which was quite comfortable. We ended up having dinners at La Ventana, Parrillada el Charrua and INKA - all three we had to take taxis to and were expensive for El Salvador. Our most enjoyable dinners were in the Antiguo Cuscatlan neighborhood at Andale and Sol Azteca. We took the public bus to Suchitoto one day. It took 2-1/2 hours each way and cost 90cents. It was a great day. Thanks for your help!

Haven't tried "Andale" and "Sol Azteca" - will go as soon as I come back from a business trip, this weekend. Thanks for the tip!
