Has anyone ever had to use any of the hospitals in El Salvador???

Are they fairly modern????

It depends: Private or Public. As can be expected, private hospitals have more resources. Public hospitals it also depends. There are new ones with the latest equipment, but also the older ones that have bad infrastructure and equipment.

There is a medical center, which was regionally renowned, at La Esperanza suburb, near the government center in the Capital. The Hospital de Diagnostico is one of the older, more established ones there.

Also, in Colonia Escalon you'll find the Hospital de la Mujer and the other one at Villavicencio Plaza (I think it is a branch of the Hospital de Diagnostico).

Many salvadoreans living in the USA come here to do check ups, etc. as it is cheaper than the USA and in some cases, first rate care.
