Planning to visit Korosten next year (April) are there any good hotels in Korosten or close by?

Hi Patrick,

I just love this historic town with its scenic centre and quite a few interesting and controversial things to see!

But I was never tempted to stay there overnight. Accommodation options available in Korosten’ hardly fit in the «good» concept. I’m afraid you should get ready to very basic, by Western standards, conditions, and decide what’s more important to you - comfort or proximity to Korosten’.

In the case of the latter, you can find the list of Korosten hotels here: http://tinyurl.com/a22lslp

And on these local web-sites you will find the reviews of three most visited Korosten’ hotels, to get a better idea of them: http://tinyurl.com/blvoz6u and http://tinyurl.com/d77s985

Should you want a comfier accommodation, you can consider either staying in Zhytomyr (but it’s almost 100km away), or finding a motel or a cottage along Kyiv - Korosten’ road.

For Zhytomyr hotels, here you will find those listed on TA: tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g298050-Zhytomyr_Zhyt…

And in this earlier thread there are some other names mentioned: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g298050-i15834-k44…

Have a safe trip!

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

Another question! after Korosten we plan to head into Belarus. Are we better traveling by train or hiring a car?

Hi Patrick,

Do you have hiring a car with the driving in mind or renting a car? In any case, I believe taking a train will entail way less hassle.

If you are a UK-passport holder, don't forget about the visa to Belarus.

Train it is then, thanks for your help.

We are arriving in Kiev, staying there for a few days then moving onto Korosten then onto Stolin, then Brest and finally onto Warsaw for the flight home to Scotland. It would be a lot of driving I guess.

Is it best to get an overnight train from Korosten into Belarus?

It is not even about lots of driving; this entire trip will merely be close to impossible with a rented car. Even if you succeed (which is not guaranteed) to find a local rental company (definitely not in Korosten) that allows you to take their car out of Ukraine to Belarus, I seriously doubt any would agree that you drop it off outside the country, specifically in the EU (Warsaw). Crossing the border in a rented car is also some piece of a headache.

Now that you have mentioned which exactly places you need to get to in Belarus, a train might not be the best idea. I was rather thinking of Minsk when recommended it to you above.

But if you need to get to Stolin, perhaps a bus can be better? I haven’t done it myself, so hope someone else can advise/confirm this, maybe even on Belarus forum tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g294447-i5625-Bela…

As far as I can see, there are no buses from Korosten to Stolin, but there are few from Rivne and Sarny http://tinyurl.com/b48nvvy (time-table indicative and should be verified). You can get to Sarny from Korosten by bus/mini-bus, then take a bus there for Stolin.

Alternatively, you can try finding a driver ready to get you to Belarus in their car.
