Wedding

my sister wishes to get married in romania, in particular a place called Curtea de Arges. I am having trouble finding any information on weddings in Romania let alone this small town as they do not want the conventional hotel wedding.

Please can anyone help desperately as they want to get married in July.

Thanks

What is your actual question? - is it about the specifics of RO traditional wedding assuming that it will be applicable for your sister?

If so, clarify what exactly you would like to know: the ritual, the clothing, ???

Hi

sorry for not being clear.

OK, firstly the date is wrong she wants to get married in April, talk about last minute. She assures me that she is aware of all of the mass paperwork that is needed (they are both British Citizens). I am her wedding planner. My sister and her partner have visited the area mentioned (Curtea de Arges just north of Bucharest) a few times times and loved it so they want to marry near that location.

I need to find a wedding venue that is hopefully not the tradional hotel she wants something special, it is only for 6-10 people.

The internet is so poor on information, I cannot find any wedding planners in Romania, and the travel agents are also poor with information.

Thats all the info I have at present I will have more by the weekend.

Any information is very much appreciated, thanks in advance

3. Re: Wedding

it is much clear now, thank you.

For the legal issues (paperwork) I don't think I can be useful.

As for the logistics, at first sight...

The closest bigger locations seem to be Pitesti (about 40min.on the way from Bucharest to Curtea de Arges, roads 7 and A1; it is also around 40 min.drive distance to C.de A.), and also Rimnicu Vilcea (around 40 min. from C.de A.)

You can search for accommodation and any kind of assistance on these locations (note "Rimnicu Vilcea could be also found as "Rimnicu Vulcea"). Try google with these names but "google.ro" I will also try and will check some RO language search results, I guess that I'll navigate significant so as to at least find contact info

Also, you can refer to some International Chain hotel chains represented in Bucharest, some of them could have own wedd.service, or at least they do have contacts with reliable ones, and could provide you contact data.

Mariott, Golden Tulip, Howard&Johnson, BW, Ibis for example. Better Mariott, as H&J seems to be more used as "congress type" hotel, G.T./BW/Ibis are business type hotels

Providing u hotel names as far as my memory is sufficient for this at 6am, ,Sunday feeling.

I'm sure Romanian people from the forum will be much more helpful than me; however I will also try.

This is for now, I'll ask friends in Bucharest (in the location u mention I definitely don't know anyone, just have been crossing it at my trips)

"Last minute" wedding is stressful really but this could turn into unforgettable experience ;) and time spent in yet natural area

Congratulations to your sis and ... "the best is yet to come" :)

Hi. Curtea de Arges is one of the oldest cities in Romania, dating since the 1200s; it was the first capital of Wallachia in the 14th century, hence it has a number of "medieval" buildings, suitable for a wedding. The city is particularly famous for its stunning 16th century cathedral. It is also located near the Fagaras mountains. From Bucharest it can be easily reached by car on the Bucharest-Pitesti highway (110 km) and then 38 km on a reasonable road, by train (around 4 hours, with a change in Pitesti) or by bus (2 and a half hours).

And there are plenty of wedding/ event planners in Romania (though the sites below are mostly in Romanian, look for the "Contact' link - you'll find their email addresses, contact them and I'm sure they'll be glad to help).
