Boat from Romania to Budapest

I visit Romania in a few weeks before having to travel on to Budapest. I would like to take a boat along the Danube rather than fly etc. Can anyone please tell me how to go about this and what the cost would be. I assume the trip would take 2 / 3 days? Would anyone else who has travelled this way have any feedback about the journey ?

Thanks Paul

There aren't any scheduled boats along this section of the Danube, just occasional river cruise ships.

Hi

the best option will be with the night train :

train number EN 472 depart Bucharest gara de nord train station at 19:00

and arrive to budapest nyugati pu train station at 08:50 .

for train timetable in europe :

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml

one way at second class wagon cost 43 euro .

and in adition you pay a supliment for bed :

T3 - 3 bed cabin cost 28 euro

T2 - 2 bed cabin cost 42 euro

Bc4 - cuseta with 4 bed 22 euro

Bc6 - cuseta with 6 bed 15 euro

Like David said the best solution is the overnight train.

Apart from the regular prices mentioned above there are also discounted tickets (but you have to book them If you book with at least a week in advance): €29 for a second class seat, €39 for a berth (in a 6 berths cabin) and €59 for a bed (in a three beds sleeper).
