Driving from Plitvicka to Dubrovnik

Which is the best and fastest road; E-71 or the A-1 and how long does each route take? Any input as to what to expect along the way.

thank you!

Isn't the A1 part of the European highway E71?

On my map there is an A-1 which seems to be a larger highway and is located nearer the coast and then there is the E-71 which looks to be a smaller road.

Maybe you are looking at E61 which is Croatian road D8-the Adriatic Highway which is a two lane road that goes along the Adriatic from Rijeka to Dubrovnik? This can be a very slow road depending on traffic. I think it would be better to take the toll road as far as you can- near Makarska- and then finish the trip on the Adriatic Highway. You can go very fast on the A1 and you can look up to see what the toll will be. Not too exciting on this road....but lots of great views on the Adriatic Highway!

Take the toll road, you can fly on it and still have a great view.
