Must-see sights in Sofia in December

Hi,

I am coming to Bulgaria for New Year, for a long weekends snow shoeing in the Rila mountains with Explore. I am flying in a day early in order to see something of Sofia, can anyone make any suggestions as to what the must-see sights are? Unfortunately I will only have about 6 hours before I have to go and meet my group, were it not Christmas I would have flown out even earlier.

If you have only 6 hours don't try "to see" places. Take a tour on foot ont the Vitosha Boulverd and a visit to the Jensky Pasar (Women's market). That with a meal will finish your time. Maybe a pop-in the Nievsky Church. That if the weather is fine. Otherwise the church and the modern art musem that is close by, or the big mall ZUM built during Soviet times and converted into a modern mall.

Hi,

I am thinking of going snoeshoing with either Explore or the Adventure Company later this year and wondered how you found it? Was it good fun / lovely scenery etc? Be really interested to hear your thoughts as can't find any other review on the web!

Thanks

The women's bazaar is great, I take all of my clients there to show them the real Bulgaria, Roma and all. Roma are Bulgarians aren't they? They have every right to work and sell products as anyone. It is not dirty and the food is great, I love it. If they are really making kebache out of dogs, then they are wonderful dogs, because the food is great.

I think sunflower is a little xenophobic and needs to come to the USA to see how minorities and marginalized people exist and coexist. Talk about being sheltered and uninformed.

She could ask her fellow Bulgarians who emmigrated to other Europeans countries how they are treated. About 1 million Bulgarians left since the Communist regim fell.

Hi,

As I see my posts were deleted.

I was trying to provide information on the city I am born in and live in. I do not advise anyone who has just few hours to visit Sofia to go to a dangerous and dirty place, that has nothing to do with this beautiful city.

I do not see any connections between the topic here and the Bulgarians who left the country for going abroad ??
