Just thought I'd post an update on the construction renovation plans at Kia Ora Rangiroa.
Contruction was supposed to start at the beginning of 2009 but they are still waiting for the government detax laws for 2008 to be passed. So, they cannot give an exact date of when the renovation can start. The government says that they will be finalized before the end of the year at which time they will apply and construction can start 4 to 6 months after that date.
Plans are now to start renovations June 1st. They may a few little things in March that shouldn't disturb guests. The major renovation project will be quite disturbing, so the resort has decided that it is better to close the hotel for a few months.
Again, this all depends on the work permits. So, the Kia Ora will not take any more reservations after June 1st. If the work permits are not finalized before the end of the year, they will release the bungalows for sale after June 1st.
The good news:
They have a special promotion with greatly reduced rates and breakfast included which applies between January 1st and May 31st 2009 to all categories except the Kia Ora Sauvage.
This will be such a wonderful renovation when it's finished. But it's a great time to take advantage of the reduced rates with no construction going on!
