Rent a car in Nadi +/-

Hi.

We will stay in Uprising Beach Resort 6 days. Would you recommend to hire a car or better use a taxi. What is the condition of roads and how driving is crazy there.

Thanks.

I would use a taxi! The roads are not the best of conditions!

The roads are in very poor condition and there are plenty of pot-holes.The local drivers seem to have their own road rules which are pretty scary. Hire a cab it would be better for your blood pressure!

Hi. Car rental is very expensive in Fiji compared to many other countries we've been to and the cars are poorer quality generally. Taxis are fairly cheap unless you are going regularly to the coal coast. I'd check with the resort for approx taxi fares to places you want to go but on the whole recommend taxis.

I have always found AVIS to be very good and resonable rates when converted back to the aussie dollar! The roads are a bit run down and you will certainly see a few pot holes and people and animals on them but us lady drivers manage alright so it might be an option for you!

Hire a car - and its not expensive - well compared to Australia its on par. I paid $60 AUD for a VW Polo from Europcar. For a taxi the rate 1 way to Suva is $250 and Uprising is approx 40mins before Suva so it would be around $200ishFJD.

If you book through Avis, you can drop the car off at The Pearl, which is just down the beach from the Uprising. You can walk to everything at Pacific Harbour, or if you want a bigger supermarket it is only five mins cab ride to Navua and back. A lot more convenient for the airport transfer, as it is a 3 hr drive and you an stop when and where ever you want, to break up the trip. The roads aren't that bad, if you're used to country roads. The max speed is 80, but you rarely get to go that fast due to bends, villages, cattle, dogs etc. it's a fun drive.

Came back from our trip. We rented a car in the airport (Budget), had no problems with driving and would recommend to rent a car.
