Nadi Flooding

Looks like it's that time of the year again when the poor town floods. The Nadi Famers Market to those of you who know it is already underwater and today all the shops in town have closed while people wait to see how far the water rises. Hopefully it will not be as bad as the past few years. They are experiencing a lot of rain at the moment. Air Pacific International flights still leaving as scheduled customers advised to make their way to airport early for their flights, in case roads around Nadi become inaccessible later today. Pacific Sun flights to Savusavu, Taveuni, Kadavu and Lakeba this morning were cancelled. Stay safe everyone in Fiji!

1. Re: Nadi Flooding

Had minor flooding before we arrived late Dec. It is the wet season!!

We have had minor flooding here and if this rain keeps up it will be more than minor.

Webcam at Plantation doesn't look good. Plenty of wind with the rain. It is to be expected at this time of year.

I hope you don't get too much rain Barb and that you don't get flooded in. Keep safe.

Am sure Brett and the kids will be fine. Hope the weather clears for them though they don't need a wet holiday after the rain that Sydney has had..

We are flooded in now with another 300mm predicted over the next couple of days, hope the food lasts, at least we are high and dry and can overlook the valley and what is happening.Barb

Not good...we go to plantation in 12 days. I hope it gets better, but it is their wet season, so to be expected. I suppose it will be better than all of the rain we're having here 'cause at least it wont be cold too, in Fiji :)

Hey there we are heading to nadi on 1st of feb. is the flooding too bad? Should we cancel our holiday or do you think it will have cleared up by then? Any risk of health issues?

Cheers

Hi Darryl,

It should have cleared off by the time you guys get here. I was in Nadi during the 2009 Flooding, which was prolonged for a week. The resorts in Denarau a pretty safe to stay in however the other resorts should be fine too. The Island resorts are also a much better option. In terms of health issues - No problems at all, come equiped with lots sun tan and sun screen lotion and some repellant for the mozi's. Bottled water would be another option to keep in mind but hey, travelling any where in the world is a safer option. Nothing big in terms of a health risk.

Come to Fiji and enjoy the BULA time...

Cheers,

Janice

You won't be affected by flooding if you are going to an island. With any luck it will well and truly have passed by the time you go.
