We are a young brazilian couple (35 - 28 yrs old) who are going to Uruguay for the first time, so we have some questions about the city and recomendations. We will be there from feb 4th afternoon and leave by early morning on feb 9th.
We arrive around 1pm on feb 4th and have already book 3 nights in a hotel at avenue san jose. We usually pack light, so there is any way we can get there by bus or a cheaper transfer than the taxis? how much does it cost?
How much should we bring on uruguaian pesos for the first days? is better to exchange by the airport? I know that ATMs are better, but the brazilian government has just announced a new tax over money exchange for brazilians who use debit cards abroad, money withdraw abroad and pre paid cards. So I´m considering taking more cash.
We would love to hear nice recomendations of bars and restaurants that you liked. My idea of Uruguay is great meat and great wine. Also good recomendations of rock n roll bars are very welcomed!
We are football fanatics and we are very happy to know that there is a Libertadores match on the day we arrive! Already questioned a tour company for tickets and tranfer, but any idea if we can get tickets on the stadium when we arrive? how much would cost?
We will scape to Colonia for a day and come back around feb 7th. For these last days, I´d like to stay near the beaches, so Pocitos and the areas near are an option. Any indication of places to stay? We have a limited budget, and we would like to pay around US$ 60 - 70 a night for a double room in a hostel or hotel. Its ok if it has a shared bathroom...
