MVD Wine Tour

Visiting MVD next week then on to BA and would like info on a wine tour. Looking at the maps it looks like there is a good amount of options to visit a few different winerys. Is it easy to just rent a car and visit a few? I would prefer that but if there is a good private option where we can visit many different places that would also be on interest.

Thanks in advance

You should hire a remise with driver to take you to the wineries you want to visit, cheaper than a tour.

If you’re an oenophile, I would definitely opt for a tour. Taking a taxi won’t necessarily be cheaper, and it surely won’t be as wide-ranging or informative.

Hi,

A) Let me recommend you, as first option, to visit Bodega Bouza, is near Montevideo (approximately 15 kilometers) . Besides visiting the vineyard and the winery, it have a good restaurant and a private car museum which is very good to visit.

Will be quite expensive to go by taxi, no less than 30 USD per trip.

B) Other possibility is to visit Establecimiento Joanico. You can arrange a tour which includes a walk through the vineyards, visit to the winery, the antique stone buildings and the underground cellars. At the end of the tour there is an opportunity to taste some wines in a guided wine tasting.

Joanico is located at 38 kilometers as from Montevideo.

C) Antigua Bodega Stagnari. Can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9 to 17 or Saturday from 9 to 14. You can visit the vineyard, the winery and taste some wines.

Is necessary to arrange a visit 24 hours in advance.

Located 20 kilometers from Montevideo.

The problem renting a car is to drive after a few wines tasting. Besides is dangerous, you may have some legal problems.

Bye! and hope you enjoy Uruguay.
