Ollantaytambo (O) vs. Cusco (C) or both?

In planning stages and trying to decide. Was thinking of flying from Lima to Cusco and taking taxi to Ollantay

for two nights and visiting MP. Also want to spend one night and see Cusco.

In briefly reading forums looks like O is better for altitude adjustment.

I see that taxi ride from C to O is about 2.5 hours.

So-my questions. How far is MP from O? Get there by train bus?? How long?

Do you recommend the two nights in O and then night in C or do C first?

Or 3 nights in O??? Help TA friends!

Thanks,

Casa

The train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes is about 1.5 hours. Its a short 10-15 minute walk from the train station to where the buses depart and its another 15-20 minute bus ride up the mountain to Machu PIcchu.
