Pre-booking tickets for Machu Picchu... help!

Hi,

My parents are going to Machu Picchu in a few weeks time. They've booked their train tickets from Cusco to MP, but haven't pre-booked any entrance tickets for the ruins. Should they have done, or can they do it on the day?

Apologies if this question has already been answered elsewhere!

Thanks

Anna

They should have NO problem in entering MP once they arrive there. Tickets are sold at th entrance.

They need to take a minibus that takes them from close to the train station to the MP ruins .It cost about US$ 12 and the entrance to the ruins used to be another US$ 25.

I've been trying to find out how to book my train tickets in advance. Do you know where your parents went to book the tickets (a website?).

Try perurail.com for yr tickets.

If not, you will have to do it through a travel agency.

If they are coming after Aug it will probably be much easier to get tickets as the high season will be coming to an end.

Hi - did your parents have any problems getting the entrance tickets for the ruins at the gate on the day? We have booked the train, but can't find details of the tourist pass anywhere..

Once you arrive to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) you need to get on a mini bus that takes you up to MP ruins ($12)These buses depart very often.

Once you arrive to the entrance of the ruins, you buy a ticket ($25) and enter.

There are no restrictions on how many tickets they sell per day, so you should have NO problems whatsoever.

The only restriction to arrive to MP is the amount of passengers allowed on the train.
