Machu Picchu in May

Can you please advise of weather in May to do the Inca trail and also the weater at the beginning of September? Is there anything else in Peru that we should not miss out on?

May should be a great time to go....at least that's what I'm hoping since I'm going in May. Check out andeantravelweb.com for lots of good information regarding weather, operators, etc. There is also a link on that site to see how many trek permits are available by day. It appears that all but just a few days in May are already full; so book now!

Early September is also a good time. We had good weather in early Sept 2007. We got light rain on the Inca Trail, but nothing that lasted a long time. Temperatures were fine: shirtsleeves during the day, but cooling off (a lot) at night. We were never cold in our sleeping bags & tents, though.
