Flights transfers at Lima airport

My daughter will be traveling to Peru by herself. She is arriving from Miami and will need to get to her LAN Flight bound for Puerto Maldanado. The flights were booked separately. What are the procedures to get her luggage and get through customs, and then make her way to her LAN flight? Any info would be helpful.

Just go through immigration, then luggage and customs .

Then just walk to the Lan counter which is on the same floor about 1 block away.

She can check in by internet before he leaves from the USA on the local flight so she will only need to check in her luggage.

The big issue with separate tickets is if the first flight is late and you miss the connection, LAN can consider you a no show and cancel the second ticket plus any subsequent legs on that ticket. You'd be stuck in Lima airport trying to buy a new, last minute ticket at last minute prices and subject to availability. So you want to leave lots of extra time just in case.

There's a good sticky post on the air travel forum about the risks associated with separate tickets.
