Trains to Machu Pichu

How far in advance do u reserve the train from Cuzco to Machu Pichu? I don't wanna get there n been all booked up. Just wanna make sure. Thx

If you wait too long and the trains are sold out, you can always leave from the Ollantaytambo (SV) train station.

There is not a huge penalty for making a date change, so I don't see the wisdom in waiting.

We went in May and started looking at trains in March, so three months early. Some trains were already full and we could not get on exactly the one we wanted. But we were able to find an alternative at not too bad a time. May's the beginning of busy season. If you're going June/July/August, you probably need to look even earlier.
