Breakfast place in Lima

Hi everyone,

We are arriving to Lima around 6AM and we'll stay in JW Mariott in Miraflores. Can anyone suggest a good place for breakfast nearby or eating in the hotel restaurant is our best bet?

Thank you

I like Sangucheria La Lucha at Parque Kennedy. There are also two Starbucks in the area (one at Parque Kennedy and another one at Larcomar, closer to your hotel).

Ohhh... my first thought is to wander a bit and enter any place that has a crowd and order what appears to be the most popular. Crowds mean repeat business and much less risk of GI upset and popular, well, it usually means "awesome!"

Not so many places close by the Marriott that are offering breakfast. LarcoMar is probably not open until 10 am or if not a little later.......pay for a breakfast at the Marriott! or head up to Parke Kennedy (10 mins away).

Thank you all.

I think, we are not going to waste time searching for a breakfast place and just have some coffee in a hotel. Then go directly to the downtown Lima to see a historic center and have a lunch somewhere along our way.

Apparently the Marriott does not include breakfast in their hotel rates!

If you want to stock your room with water and snacks, there is an upscale supermarket, Vivanda east of Larco, on Benavides. There is a small dining area there. They are open 24 hours. I think they are a fun visit.

You could walk, or take a taxi there.

Marriot’s location is very good. If you stay there, you wouldn’t have much problems in terms of breakfast options withou needing to take a cab or a bus. All you need to do is walk to the Kennedy park, approximately a fifteen minute walk, and you’ll find some very good spots for having breakfast around the park. I would strongly recommend Haiti or La Tiendencita Blanca; although I alsothink you shouldn’t spend much time trying to find a good breakfast place given that breakfast at a good hotel or coffee shop isn’t really that much different/better than the places I mentioned before.

What you should look after is lunch places, either in Miraflores or elsewhere. Having a good lunch experience in Lima is all about finding the rightest spot. Then you’ll be able to experience what Peruvian cuisine is all about.

I am detailing below the best restaurants I visited during my stay, as well as the district they are located in:

- La 73 (Barranco)

- La Bisteca (San Isidro)

- El Cordano (Centro de Lima)

- Central Restaurante (Miraflores)

- Astrid y Gastón (Miraflores)

- La Rosa Naútica (Miraflores)

I agree with the Haiti or La Tiendecita Blanca for a great breakfast!

You surely don't have to take a taxi from the Marriot to Vivanda. It's just a 5 minute walk. WHile I agree that Haiti and Tiendecita Blanca are great places to have breakfast, you find numerous smaller ones when walking from the Marriot up Av. Larco. One is for example Chef's Cafe just before the corner with Av. Benavides (next to the Atlantic City casino) on the right side (5 minute walk), a little bit further you find at least two or three other nice places. Not so touristy, but still with good breakfast.
