Can anybody recommend a driver for our trip? We have booked a hotel in Cusco for a week; but think we may go to Scared Valley first to acclimate to the altitude. If this is the case, we need a driver from the Cusco airport to a hotel in Scared Valley. We will be arriving early on a Saturday morning. An alternative is to get a ride to our Cusco hotel to drop off most of our luggage. Then, get a driver to take us to Sacred Valley. We thought we could tour some ruins then stay in a hotel (Aranwa Sacred Valley, Tambo del Inka, or Sol y Luna) instead of going all the way back to Cusco. The next day, Sunday, we would like to do the Pisac market, so we would need a driver then too. Propose itinerary so far:
March 9, Saturday: Arrive early morning. Sacred Valley tour and sleep. Driver or guide for SV.
March 10, Sunday: Pisac market, then train to Alga Calientes for the night. Driver or guide for Pisac and to train station.
March 11, Monday: Machu Picchu all day. Train back SV hotel or Cusco hotel. Husband’s birthday. MP guide.
March 12, Tuesday: Tour Moray & Salinas from SV or Cusco. Need a driver or guide from either. Not sure which location is better to leave from. I heard there was a bridge washed out somewhere between Cusco and SV and a road was closed. Anybody know exactly there this is?
March 13, 14, 15: Tour Cusco sites from Cusco hotel.
March 16: Check out and go to Lima.
I read about this driver in the Frommer’s Peru book: Roberto Angles Ochoa. Anybody ever use him?
