25 people - where to stay

I'm looking to book rooms for about 25 optometry students and optometrists the first week of June and am having a little trouble finding the perfect place:

1. Something that lives up to our resort-style (and probably nightlife/market/restaurant) expectations

2. Not too expensive (under $100/night)

3. Would allow us to make a day trip to Macchu Picchu.

Does anyone know of a place that might fight that bill?

How about the Kuychi Rumi in Urubamba (see tripadvisor for more info)

It has 6 fully furnished Andean houses for rent for 4 to 6 people each.Prices would be around $40 per head per night.

The Ollantaytambo train station is only 15 minutes away.

For nightlife expectations staying in cusco, near the plaza de armas, is your best bet.

The Los Apus Hotel is a short walk up into the San Blas area. Some of their rooms have 2-level lofts.

For visiting Machu Picchu you could first spend one night in the Sacred Valley, the resort Sol y Luna has everything from horseback riding to river rafting and paragliding. The next afternoon take the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu). Spend a night, the Hanaqpacha is a good hotel. Very early next morning go up to the ruin site before the new day's mass of people arrive on the 1030am train. Have most the day exploring the ruins and head back to Cusco late afternoon train.

Happy trails,
