Arequipa vs. Colca

Hello! I have 3 nights for Arequipa and Colca. Coming from Puno by bus then going to the airport for a 3pm-flight to Lima. We'd like to see the condors, starry skies, and live performances.

What's the best way to distribute the 3 nights - which days in Arequipa and which days in Colca? What's the best way to get to the airport.

Thank you very much. Really really appreciate it. :)

Hi

Based on my experience I would travel to Colca and stay one night only. U need to be up reasonably early to travel to the canyon rim. The birds will rise when the thermals allow and this can be unpredictable, so get there about 08.00.. The birds rise rapidly and can be out of sight in 1-2 mins.- gone in 60 seconds rings a bell!

This gives u time to travel back from Colca to Arequipa.

Take warm clothes as Colca is v. cold at night and early a.m.

Arrive Arequipa and stay in the city for the first night. Be sure to visit the Convent of Santa Catalina.

Next early morning go to Colca and stay for a couple of nights and rtn to Arequipa on 3rd day for airport.

Thanks to you both :) Has anyone ever gone to the Arequipa airport direct from Colca?
