Peru in January 2013.

We are outdoor loving 30 year old couple. We going to Peru to three weeks in January. First we thinking to Cusco and take trek to Macchu Pichu and after that some kind jungle trek. Do you have same good trekking options ja good place to go to jungle trip in only three weeks?

Yes you can if you do Cusco, MP and Puerto Maldonado.

You better check the bookings for the Inca trail as permits sell out fast.

Be aware that you will be doing the trek right through the rainy season.

There are still lots of Inca Trail permits left for the last 3 weeks of January but the first week is completely booked. As far as Jungle goes if you want to spend 3-4 days the following lodges are all great: Posadas Amazonas, Refugios Amazonas, Sandoval Lake Lodge, Hacienda Conception, Reserva Amazonica. If you want to spend 5-7 days in the Amazon would strongly suggest doing it at the TRC (Tambopata Research Center) as it's much deeper into the Jungle and you see a lot more.

Thank you for answers. I was thinking same kind longer alternative route for Inca trek, how about Salkantay trek? Do we need permit if we going to Salkantay trek? It's gonna be quite contrast to go jungle because here Finland is very cold (-30) christmas morning.

No permit required for Salkantay Trek so far. It is a lovely route to MP but as it has been said you must be aware that you are bound to encounter some rain.

The Salcantay Trek is not being offered by some of the reccomended Trekking Companies this year for Safety Reasons in January and February specifically.
