travel agent

Interested in finding a good travel agent based in Peru who can take your draft ideas for travel, and turn it into a final itinerary w/ hotels, internal travel (bus, train, air), some tour guides as needed...mostly interested in lower budget, doing a lot on own but want to make the most out of a short time (two weeks). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, my suggestion would be to not use a travel agent, but to do it yourself. You can research and ask questions on here, book everything online, etc. We used local guides who we talked with by email ahead of time and they booked some stuff for us, but lots of people just use quides arranged by their hotels with great luck.

I must say that we had to use a travel agent to book a couple hotels (had a voucher to use up that we got as a present) and it was a PAIN IN THE NECK, as I would have to email a request for what I wanted book, wait a couple days to see if she booked it, too much "middle man"...when I could have just booked those things much easier by just sending emails directly to our hotels and guides.

Hello

We did last year a fantastic tour to peru,

We did do a bigg part on our own /but we also used for pazts of our trip a local based agency in Cusco : Peru planet www.peru-planet.net

They arranged our transfer and hotel in lima / our fantastic incatrail 4 days what i recommend ro everyone and a hotel + jungle arrangement from cusco, All the service was perfect and they gave us better prices for the hotels than you can find on the websites of the hotels, The Arequipa and Nasca part we did on our own, Ths was also verry easy to arrange / but for cusco in high season i recommend to reserve in advance !

good luck

If you decide to go with a local agent, I and many others can recommend Yure Chavez of Peru Trek 4 Good http://yurechavez.blogspot.com/ He is a Cusco native and a certifed guide. He did for me just what you describe. I just didn't have time to do a lot of research, and living in South America, I know how it often takes a lot of time to get email responses. I gave him some vague ideas, and he put together a good itinerary. I asked about a homestay in Cusco, and spent Xmas with his familyt! This was not an escorted tour; I was met at airports, taken to the hotels, and then was on my own to explore. He did arrange a private guide for me at MP. Everything went really well, and when there was a flight delay or cancellation he was right on top of it.

Peru For Less is a travel company that has offices in Peru. They have both local staff and native-English speaking staff. All their tours are customizable and although they’re not exactly “budget,” it might be worth checking their website to see if what they offer meets your needs.

Hello Bubbles, umm well, Iwent to Peru last year and it was an amazing trip, we spent about 16 days, we did our travel arrangements with a local tour operator called Inkandina, they were really helpful with us, I remenber that they had a lot of patience because we made many changes from the original Itinerary, perhaps you can try to ask for a quote or any information about your trip. I hope you have a wonderful trip. :)
