Quito, galapagos, Lima, Cuzco Machu Picchu in May

We are leaving early May from Boston 3 couples (ages 56-61)

First stop Quito Marriott 3 nites...then 4 nites explorer 11 Galapagos...then fly to Lima 2 nites Milaflores Park...then fly to Cuzco 2 nites Monasterio...finally 2 nites at Pueblo Inn Machu Picchu...

FEEDBACK on hotels please

will be ok with altitude with this itinerary?? Should we have oxygen pumped into hotel room?

Clothing/ packing suggestions..May 2-16th

bathing suit? fleece? rain jacket?water shoes?Umbrella etc

The Pueblo Inn at machu picchu suggested we take their private tour into the citadel etc... includes private guide, admission and bus $142 (approx 4 hrs)...seems like alot...are there English speaking guides within the citadel once we get there?? We have 11/2 days...arrive around noon 1st day...should we stay on Peublo property the first day and then leave Early in the morning the second day and spend the day up at Machu Picchu?...we leave at 8am next morning on train.

Has anyone taken the FREE tours with in the Pueblo Inn property..any feedback?

Suggested activities & restaurants in Quito, Lima, Cuzco or any other helpful hints!

Thanks sooo much!!!

As far as altitude I don't think you will need the oxygen to your room! But I have a few suggestions! If you have never experienced high altitude it is difficult to know how you will react. Some people get a headache and feel a little under the weather. Others feel nothing. I would take it easy the first day, nothing to strenuous. Drink lots of water and rest if you don't feel well. When you are in the highlands you will need clouthing for cooler weather. A jacket or sweater especially for the evenings.
