Quito Airport WiFi

Like others who have posted, we have about 9 hours (3 pm -- midnight) between our flight from Baltra until our flight back to the states in about three weeks. The general view seems to be that, while there isn't much to do at the new airport, it's risky to go all the way into town -- and the airport still has no left luggage facility. But things may be changing quickly as they settle in. Anyone have any recent updates?

-- Are there more seats so we don't have to sit or sleep on the floor?

-- About how long before flight time can we check in so we can access the club lounges?

-- Any new food places besides Johnny Rockets (ugh!), TGIF, etc.?

-- How's the shopping?

-- Most important, is there WiFi so I can at least surf the web? Free or fee?

Or should we just give it up and take a shuttle to the nearest hotel and get a few hours rest?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

TGI Fridays downstairs in arrivals has free WiFi and nicer atmosphere than Johnny Rockets upstairs... Have to admit that will be a long wait at the airport as it is really isolated ...

Thanks. I have no idea why the TA staff disallowed the earlier posting. We've decided that nine hours (or however long before the return flight) is way too long to wait at an airport that seems to have few accommodations. Johnny Rockets and TGIF are not much of an incentive. So we've booked a day room at the nearby Quito Airport Suites for about $30, including pickup (very well reviewed here). They have WiFi and all the standard room amenities. It became a no-brainer.

I didn't see the content of the deleted post, but it clearly states it was deemed inappropriate by the TA community; that means, a number of forum participants would have had to use the Report inappropriate content link. It was not removed by TA staff.

We were there in Feb 2014 & I couldn't get WiFi at the Quito airport or Johnny Rockets. We were told to walk across the road to the Mall del Cielo & it was available there for free so we spent most of our time in that building - the outdoor patio area was nice & food was cheaper.

I can add that the United Club lounge has free WiFi for those who are flying business class or have access through other means.
