The temps in the sierra remain about the same year-round; the only difference is "dry season," although it can rain, and "rainy season," when you can have lots of sun with occasional showers. Puerto López will be ending its garua season and starting to warm up.
There's really no bad time of year for Ecuador.
thanks....that was helpful. If you have an idea can u tell e the transportation facilities in the country. as i told im planning quito, cuenca and also puerto lopez to visit la plata as i cant afford galapagos. Also flights might be expensive. So any buses etc. Im ready to spend a little extra if they have better quality tourist buses or shuttles.
Domestic flights aren't that expensive, even going one-way. For some reason, TAME, the national airline, can no longer be booked online unless you have an Ecuadorian-issued credit card. I'm assuming--and this is an educated guess--that you can use a foreign card if you book in person at one of their outlets or with a travel agent. The deluxe public buses are comfortable and cheap; figure approximately $1/hour of travel
