1. Re: Where to stay???

I just got back from a week in Ecuador this morning. I stayed in two hotels in Quito -- both which were amazing and different. At the beginning of my trip, we stayed at Casa Gangotena. It was located in Old Town and was quite possibly the nicest hotel I've stayed at in my entire life. It was expensive though. This would definitely only work if you had a decent amount of money to spend. (I shared a room with a friend, so it was a little more reasonable, but still expensive.) On the last night of my trip, we decided to stay in New Town and stayed at a place called Nu House. It was another boutique hotel, but half the price of Gangotena. It was right in the heart of the party district, with bars and party places all around. The hotel itself was very stylish and clean. They give you a welcome cocktail when you check in. I believe Gangotena was $400/night and Nu House was $200/night, so both of these are splurge hotels, but I enjoyed both very much.

Nu House is located in the heart of the tourist district, an area called the Mariscal. That is probably where the OP would want to stay (and there are much cheaper options).
