Question on Altitude

What concerns should I have about landing in Quito and staying there for a few days before heading down to Cuenca....I live at sea level....are there any over the counter pills that help with altitude sickness? Any tricks I should know...like drink lots of water, etc?

thanks

See my December 1st post. Whether one could consume (retain) enough coca tea to light up an industrial drug test, I do not know. I kind of doubt it, although I have heard "stories" of poppy seed muffins setting off hypersensitive drug tests (like those used on world class athletes). You could probably research this on Google. I can tell you that I bought coca tea from Amazon, so I doubt if there is a "drug" issue.

Thanks all, I had no problem at all...Even in Cuenca where I went up and climbed in the Andes I had no problem...besides being out of breath...but I expected that.
