How you are going to enjoy this trip, have done all of it, and was absolutely amazing and am dying to go back.
If you want to, from Quito take a bus to Coca and from there go to the Bataburo Lodge, i have stayed over there some time ago and when we went it was great. There are 4 and 7 day trips, that is uo to you. I can only tell you about what i have seen, but i really loved it(we went in 2002)
Peru you Must visit Cuzco, and the Macchu Picchu, we have done the 2 day walk, as it was raining season and only recommend you the 4 day walk if ur in good shape, a must...very magical place and marked my life!!
There are trips from Cuzco to the border of Bolivia, towards the Tikki Caca lake, another must! Becareful whom you book with as there are any thiefs!! We reserved a trip from the town ( sorry cant remember the name) and stayed over with the locals on one of the islands and the day after taken us to the other side of the island. GREAT as well.
From the we went further into Bolivia, La Paz, there are super cheap hotels there - one thing, TAKE A LONELY PLANET and prepare ur self, this book was our guideline and bible during the trip, all worthy hotels, travel agents, etc can be found there!!!!!
Afetr la Paz we went towards the Salt planes, amazing, we reseved a 4 day trip from Uyuni - Chile in a 4x4, we were 6 people in the car.
Seen amazing things during those 4 days, salt planes, lakes of all colours, water wells, could even bathe in natural hot springs!
After that all of the coast of Chile, north=desert, Santiago is like coming back the the normal modern life, all the way south to the island of Chiloe.
From there we flew with Lanchile to Argentina, as budget was low we stayed only 2 days there, then to Montevideo, Sao Paolo and Rio and back home again....
How i envy you going there, have a great time, and remember..
The Lonly Planet!!!!!! it will be your guiding line!!
Wow, that sounds fantastic! thank you so much. We have a lonely planet book so will definaely be taking that with us!
One more thing, how easy was it to travel around the country? Are most places easily accesible? And how long do journeys take?
Any help would be brilliant!!
