Stayin in Ecuador

Hi we would like to live in Ecuador for 6 months or so on a working visa. Trying to decide which would be the best place to stay. We need a decent place to find a teaching English job, good all year around weather, cheap, beach, adventure, stuff to do but not too much hustle and bustle city life and has good transport.

Anyone for any recommendations ???

While immigration regulations change without notice, you cannot obtain a work visa without being sponsored by an employer, and it must be obtained in your home country, not after you arrive in Ecuador. You would not be able to change a tourist visa to a work visa without leaving the country first. Your employer would have to document the necessity of your skills to the country.

There is a casual underground economy where ex-pats tend bar, teach English, or manage hostels. It's highly unlikely you would be able to work enough hours teaching English to live it up; the pay is very low and you would work (and be paid) only when there are students. Quito or Guayaquil would be your best bet for finding work, not one of the party/surf beach towns.
