Tigre Ferries and Restaurants

Hello again;

We`re booked this tue and wed night at Villa Victoria in Tigre and are very much looking forward to seeing the delta.

It was recommended in a previous post to take a local ferry to see the Delta as we don`t want to do a full day trip - does anyone have any recommendations & experience with this ..and likely there are many wonderful places to eat -but your experience in helping us narrow down to `must eats` would be wonderful.

My guests always enjoy lunch on a nice day at the restaurant El Gatto Blanco. You can reserve the restaurant at the kiosk where the lanchas(public boats) arrive and depart in Tigre. They will make a reservation for you on the terrace overlooking the river and sell you the boat tickets. The boat ride takes around 50 minutes to the restaurant. When finished with lunch then they will flag a boat for you for the return to Tigre.

The restaurant is a parrilla so they have very good food cooked on the barbeque.

Hi

Would a lunch arrangement in tigre be sufficient to enjoy it ? (as in spend half a day only)

I think that half a day is sufficient for Tigre and especially since you are taking a boat to get to the restaurant.

This gives you a good look at the waterways and houses then the pleasure of a nice lunch and quiet return back to the city.

If you want to extend the day then take the Tren de la Costa back to the city and stop off in San Isidro for a coffee and dessert at the refurbished old train station. This train alllow hop on/hop off.

You can take the public boat to "tres bocas" an area with treking paths and a few restaurants.

Ps. Dont forget to try Via Toscana Icecream in Paseo Victorica street.
