Can you local experts reccomend a Chinese restaurant that I can phone and book for Feb 18th (Chinese New Year) It is my husbands birthday and we arrive quite late by Tiger air. If not, perhaps one for the following day. Would the big seafood places at East Parkway be open? We are staying in Chinatown

Apart from those listed above, here are 2 more options:

1)Hua Ting at Orchard Hotel

2)Made in China at Haw Par Villa. It's a Chinese restaurant located in a Chinese Museum. I just discovered it in Dec last year and have been there twice already - as I had friends in town, and this is not a regular Chinese restaurant. You can order your food and then walk around the museum, and then when you get back to your table, dinner can be served. OR they also conduct short tours.

Bon Appetit!

Li Bai and Sheraton hotel does beautiful food though. It is also CNY season so most hotels would have special CNY menus which would be significantly more than normal a la carte menu.

There is also royal china at raffles hotel which is just divine.

Another great place if you like seafood is "No Signboard Seafood" just behind the indoor stadium at kallang.....highly recommended.

It also depends if you are after any particular type of chinese cuisine (sezchuan, hokkien, canotonese?)
