Singapore 6 night Itinerary- comments and recommendations

A HUGE thanks to all those that have already responded to some of my individual posts in this forum and others. it has been a great help in putting our holiday plan together.

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids -4.5 and 6.5) are heading on our first really big overseas trip. 6 nights Singapore, 9 night Penang and 6 nights KL.

Below is an approximate plan of what we are wanting to do in Singapore. It is a little more hectic, and we are planning to really relax once we hit Penang.

- Day 1- Fly from Sydney to KL (overnight in KL airport hotel)

Day 2- KL to Singapore- arrive hotel around 2:30 PM

- Staying at Swissotel The Stamford

- Thinking the kids might want a quick swim in the pool to help with the jet lag and get accustomed to the heat and humidity

- Check our shopping mall below hotel for a late lunch

- Possibly head to Marian bay for night light show

Day 3- Zoo (Thursday 19th Dec)

- Breakfast with the Orang utans at Zoo

- Singapore Zoo (including water play area for kids)

- River Safari

I have a feeling that we will all be exhausted after all of this. Anything else we should be trying to do if we are there?

Day 4- Sentosa (Friday 20th December)

- Marine Life Park

- Possibly Water Park- have heard mixed reviews, especially for younger kids. We are also doing LegoLand water park so might be okay to give it a miss.

- Need suggestions for afternoon/ evening activity if we are around the Sentosa area

Day 5- Orchid Road- (Saturday 21st December)

- Possibly Jurong Bird Park in the morning

- Check out xmas decoration on Orchid Road

- Check out some chopping malls and food halls in area- any specific recommendations are welcome

- Really want to do a steamboat meal with the kids- are they any good ones in this area?

- Should we only go to the Orchid road area in the evening if the xmas decoration are better then???

Day 6- (Sunday 22nd December)

- Undecided

Day 7- (Monday 23rd December)

- Lego Land and Legoland water park

- We are aiming for this to be an entire day/night event, so it will be a quick dinner and bed for the kids that night.

I would really appreciate some comments/ recommendations. Some things that we are wanting to do but not sure when to do them are as follows:

- Gardens by the bay

- Helix Bridge

- Bird Park

- Yum Cha- looking for recommendations

Thanks

Hi,

My thoughts are:

-you can do Helix Bridge and Gardens on the Bay on day 2. After the swim and shopping, go to Gardens by the Bay, preferably before 4pm so that you can appreciate the flowers in the conservatories. Have dinner in one of the restaurants before watching the Rhapsody at 7.45pm. After that you can walk towards the Helix Bridge and then enjoy the Wonder Full light show that you wanted to see

-Day 4: you can end the day with some shopping at Vivocity

-Day 5: you should go to Orchard Road in the late afternoon/ evening to enjoy the Christmas decorations/ lights. My favourite shopping malls are Ion, Paragon, Takshimaya. Others you can consider are Wisma Atria, Tangs, Isetan, and Central. Wisma Atria, Central, Ion and Takashimaya have food courts within so food is no issue. If you want to try steamboat, you can consider Imperial Treasure Steamboat Restaurant at Level 4 of Ion.

-Day 6: You can consider Botanical Gardens, Little India, Chinatown, Bugis, Science Park, or museums

For yumcha, you can consider Li Bai (Sheraton Hotel), Summer Pavilion (Ritz Carlton) or Wah Lok (Carlton Hotel). If you prefer less pricey places, you can go do to Din Tai Fung or Crystal Jade. Both have many branches throughout Singapore.

My husband and I have just returned from 5 days in Singapore make sure you see orchard rd both by day and night! Universal studios on sentosa is well worth the visit even for us in our early 50s we had an amazing time laughing with the little ones on the Madagascar ride and having an adrenaline rush on the transformers ride.

Just wandering through the shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is an experience. The Christmas display is wonderful. There is a shopping mall at each MRT station and none of these are really the same. Vicodin city on the way to Sentosa Island is another wonder.

There is a very busy and obviously good dumpling place at the Paragon centre on Orchard rd and also a really good Thai eatery.

On a clear day the Singapore flyer will give you a great view of the island.

We visited the gardens by the bay but missed doing the high walk due to a thunderstorm. More reason to return.

Using the MRT is really easy probably better to get a ticket that is loaded up rather than do as we did and buy a ticket which can be added to 6 times and add at each station. Really inexpensive. We initially took a shuttle from the airport to our hotel for $9.00 each, we then took the MRT from our hotel at Novena to Changi Airport for $2.20 each.

Enjoy your holidays

Thanks for that.

Still undecided about Universal Studios given that the lines will likely be HUGE around the time we will be there. Not sure if our little ones will be up for that.
