Hello TA members,

Wife and I are arriving at Changi at 8:00 am on 17th (Sunday) Dec and have my next flight at approx 10:30 pm - thus I've total of 14 hours and 30 mins in Singapore. Would be great if I can get few expert tips on how to see Singapore in this short time?

We're not very keen walkers :(, especially in humid conditions as we've very busy schedule from 18th Dec onwards.

Ideally I would like to see a bit of Singapore + Shop in Orchard Rd and visit the new casino (relax), eat some delicious local food etc - how best should I plan this? incl transport option...

Although I would like to visit the zoo but I don't think we've got time for all this...

I think I'll be out of Changi airport by 9 am ( 1 hour from arrival to bag storage + freshen up + clearing immigration) and will like to check in by 7:30 pm for 10:30 pm flight - will like to explore a bit of airport too...

Your guidance will be appreciated.

The Moment U step out of the Airport, U will already be sweating :D

If u do not have Heavy luggage, U can go down to the Public Bus Bay at the Basement of The Airport & Take Bus# 36. (Pay Exact Cash)

This Bus will go thru the Parkway Parade Neighbourhood, before it goes to Suntec City, Esplanade, City Hall & Orchard Road.

U can alight at the Esplanade & walk over to the MBS Casino via the Helium Bridge. Or Just straight MRT to Orchard Road Then Taxi to MBS Casino to Relax ur $$ :D (Free Entrance for TOurist) & then Taxi back to Airport for Ur Onwards Flight.

Good Luck

You've got time to go to the Zoo. Grab a cab outside the airport and head straight there. All things being equal you should be there for 09.00ish.

Stay for two and a half three hours, grab a bite to eat, the food at the Zoo is really good, (Optional).

Cab to Orchard 12.00pm Road, arriving 12.30ish, forget the Casino it's a total waste of time, it's spectacular in it's ''ordinariness'' Imho).

Personally I ask the cabbie for ''Takashimaya''( Mall) It's fairly central, opposite ''Paragon'' (mall) and between ''ION'' (mall) and ''Somerset'' Mall.

Up by ''ION'' is ''Wisma'' ( mall) atop which sits ''The Food Republic'' where you can eat you face off for ''next to nothing''.

Cab to the airport when you're ready.

Only my ideas, others will of course vary.

Short and Sharpe but a full and rewarding time in Singapore.

Good luck. Alan.

re

p.s. All these cab fares should only be in the the region of 75sg or 30 something GBPs, 60 bucks AUD approx, about, around, something like, which is nothing considering the convenience. (covering all bases, Mr and Mrs ''padantic'' are watching) LOL

Hi,

Just like to say one thing - zoo will be sweaty and exhausting, unless you take the ride through the zoo. Plus takes quite some time to commute.

Have a nice time.

Thank you all for your suggestion(s)...

We will not be carrying much luggage and will store it at the airport...We will be wearing appropriate clothing so moderate walking isn't going to be an issue - walking more than 30 mins could be an issue.

Also, how about Santosa Island? Is it worth going? What can be done there?

Thanks again.

Hi,

There are a lot of things to do on Sentosa but sadly you do not have much time to do them. Have a look

I suggest shelving Sentosa for now. Hopefully Sentosa will be your motivator to come and have a longer stay in Singapore in the near future.

Unless you are traveling on budget airlines, you can check in for your departing flight on arrival before you go through immigration. You will receive your boarding passes for your departing flight and your luggage will be transferred automatically. Then you can return to the airport 1 hour before the flight and still have 40min to spare.

In case you are flying on a budget airline and have to leave your luggage in left luggage, there is no need to return to the airport 3 hours before your flight as budget airlines do not offer early check in and the counters wont be open till at least 2 hours before the flight.

hi, you may consider going visiting Gardens by the Bay at Marina Bay in the morning. Then you may consider going to Orchard road for lunch - you may try the food court at the basement of Takashimya mall - and shopping.

At the end of the afternoon you may go back to Marina Bay to visit the Merlion, Esplanades, the Helix bridge, either the Flyer or the Skypark on top of Marina Bay Sands, watch the free light shows at the MBS and Gardens by the Bay, the casino. You may dine at Glutton Bays by the water.

You may consider allowing enough time at the airport before your flight to freshen-up. The airport has shower facilities that are welcomed after a full day visiting the city: harilelahospitality.com/services_shower.html

Hope this helps.

Sentosa is an island full of attractions including Universal Studios. You may spend the entire day though you won't see much of the city. You may check thess links to see what you can do on Sentosa:
