Where to stay before a cruise

We will be in Singapore for a day or 2 before our cruise begins from there. Where should we stay...I know nothing about Singapore! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello,

You might want to look at the tourism website www.yoursingapore.com to find out about Singapore and all its attractions.

Singapore is pretty compact so you can stay in the central area and do some sightseeing and eat out at night, and then get a taxi to the cruise terminal. Hotels in the City Hall, Marina Bay, or Orchard Road area are very nice. Guess it depends on your budget per night. Have a look at some hotel booking websites such as Hotelclub, Expedia, Booking.com, Asiarooms to see whats on offer in your price range. Then you can check out the hotel reviews here on Tripadvisor.

Thank you Denise...you have given me some ideas. Guess what i would really like is a smallish quaint hotel in the middle of everything. Have any ideas anyone?

Hello,

If its just for 1 or 2 people maybe:-

Porcelain Hotel, Chinatown

Scarlet Hotel in Chinatown,

Perak Hotel in Little India, quaint older building, small hotel

Kam Leng Hotel, Jalan Besar. older building been restored keeping some original features

Sultan Hotel, newly restored traditional building

the new Naumi Liora in Keong Saik Road, on the edge of Chinatown (it is just opening soon - been delayed a bit - restored Shophouse building being done up into a quaint but trendy boutique Hotel.

New Majestic hotel - boutique hotel, Chinatown

Wanderlust Hotel in Little India - quirky and trendy rather than quaint

I recommend that you trawl a bit with Googlemaps - that way you can get an idea of where the ideas suggested so far are in relation to such things as the MRT and the assorted tourist attractions.

For such a short stay then good transport links to intended destinations and lots of things in walking distance is a plus. Which of the locations described by previous posters works best will be in many was guided by your expected itinerary and so a drag through the www.yoursingapore.com site is a must.

One hotel of the type you seem to be after that has not been mentioned that you should take a look at is probably the Albert Court....if your definition of Quaint also includes British eastern colonial style (different from the colonial style I saw in Boston) and if the budget holds then the Fullerton might also fall into the pot.
