At the supermarket about SGD11. per packet. You may be better off buying duty free from your country before you leave as we could not buy cigarettes at Changi as an incoming passenger, only when we were departing passengers.

None, at least none duty free. You can take in up to 400g from memory as a traveller without needed a further import license. All cigarettes entering Singapore must be declared and duty then paid as there is no tobacco allowance - so even buying at Changi inbound if it was available wouldn't save you anything.

Cigarretes cost similar or less than than they do in the Uk. And yes there is no duty free allowance for cigarettes. Unless you smoke something exotic, just buy them in Singapore.

This email I just received from Singapore Customs (December 2012), should be sufficient information to ALL who are about to enter Changi Airport, with regard to cigarettes / tobacco.. The summary being,,unless you bought them very cheaply en route, you might as well just arrive with a couple of packs of 20, to tide you over, declare them at the red channel and then, buy your needs in Singapore, for the duration. the GOOD news being, that upon your departure, you'll probably find Changi Airport to be one of the cheapest in the world for ciggies.. We used to BOND our cigs on arrival but it appears THAT service is no longer available.. Gotta say,, THANKS to the customs guys at Changi.. It may seem strange that the policy does not offer a duty free allowance for ciggies but they are perfect gentlemen with a professional and courteous approach towards you when you arrive in this fab country.. (Unlike some of those sarcastic elements that you come across in other world airports.) Just don't try and pull the wool over their eyes.. The majority of passengers arriving there are subject to hand luggage, body searches and scans and they can spot a ciggy packet that you errr, "forgot about"? ;-) $10,000 fine,,, it's not worth the risk!

If in doubt,,, ASK...

------------

Dear Sir, I refer to your email dated 26 Dec 12.

We regret to inform you that bonding facility is no longer available at Changi International Airport.

Please be informed that there is no duty-free allowance for cigarettes and tobacco products in Singapore. Each arriving passenger is allowed to bring in up to a maximum of 400 grams of cigarettes or tobacco products upon payment of duty and Goods & Services Tax (GST). The import of cigarettes or tobacco products exceeding 400 grams has to be covered by the relevant Customs permit.

If you intend to bring the cigarettes into Singapore, kindly, upon arrival in Singapore, please declare the cigarettes to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at the Customs Red Channel or proceed directly to Customs Tax Counter at the Checkpoint for payment of duty and GST before you exit the Green/Red Channel. Payment is accepted via credit card, NETS, cashcard, and cash made out in Singapore dollars.

In general, the duty and GST payable on one packet of 20 sticks of normal cigarettes is $7.70. For a box containing ten packets of 20 sticks normal cigarettes, the duty and GST payable is S$77.05. The duty rate for cigars is $352 per kgm. GST payable on the cigars would be : 7 % of [duty + value of the cigars].

However, instead of bringing the taxable items into Singapore, you may wish to consider using the airport's left baggage service provided by Changi Airport subject to the terms and conditions of the operator. If you agree to the terms and conditions of the operator and decide to store the items with them, then the items should be stored with the operator before your immigration clearance. Please contact the operator for more details - changiairport.com/at-changi/facilities-and-s…
