Solo in Singapore

On my own for three days in Singapore in January. What is the best area to stay? What interesting places to visit? (No shopping!)

Thank you for your suggestions

What about Chinatown area? If you have no limit on budget you can check out: Scarlett Hotel.

If shopping not in your must-do, avoid staying at Orchard Rd. Other so-called 'best area' include City Hall, Marina Bay, Clarke Quay, n the fringe area, Bugis n Chinatown as suggested above.

Just pick a hotel in any area that suits your budget and interests while you research for it as everything is close in Singapore and it's only less than half the size of London.

The last suggestion sounds rather vague... Singapore is small but not all hotels conveniently located...

The national museam of Singapore is an excellent place to visit, lots on the history of Singapore as well as displays of art, food and culture of the country as well.

Hi,

Recommend you a nice, clean, cheap hotel - Value Thomson at Balestier Road www.valuehotel.com.sg/Thomson/index.php. I have stayed there and felt it's good. It is a little of the main road, not so noisy. It is still convenient to Town - 10 mins walk to the nearest - Novena MRT Station (subway). It also has many local food centres and coffee shops around. Just DON'T book room with breakfast included. Breakfast is another SGD10. But you can get very nice local food just across the street (15 secs walk) for 1/3 of that SGD10!

Have fun in Singapore! :)
