Sequence our 2D trip & gettin' there advice pls.

Hi everyone!

A group of 8 pax heading to SIN on May 24-25 and will be staying at Strand hotel. We really need your help in sequencing our trip including the reccomended transpo (e.g. taxi, pls. provide aprox cost), how to get there, how long should we stay & even where-to-eat on the way (e.g. park food too expensive). I'd really appreciate it if you could provide a sort of a time plan so we're quite sure that we're on the target since we only have 2 days. And pls. do note that we need to be at Golden Mile Complex at 11pm on the 25th for our SIN to KL trip, don’t even know how to reach this from our last destination… poor me.  After reading some postings, here are our must-go attractions & must-do's:

SIN City Tour – want to have a bird’s eye view & a quick look on SIN. Do you advise us to join a tour here @ SGD30? It’s the cheapest I found on the net so far, though we still find it expensive.

SIN Zoo - taking the 3 park hopper specials

Safari Night

Bird park

Mandai Orchid Garden – worth visiting?

Electronic shop - purchasing a lap top

Sentosa: afternoon till sunset?

a. Songs of the sea – is this the musical fountain?

b. Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom

c. Underwater World

Shopping

Hope this is not too much... :) Thanks in advance!

Hi,

If you have kids in your group, then Sentosa and Night Safari should be the top of your list on the 1st day.

Your nearest MRT Train station should be Dhoby Ghaut, so consider taking a train down to Harbourfront station to get from Sentosa. It costs less than S$2 per person. Check with the staff at that station on how to get into Sentosa, entry to Sentosa is about S$2. 'Songs of the Sea' is a performance of beautiful water display, coupled with skillful lighting effect to creat a musical story. It is only S$6 per entry if I didn't remember wrongly. Underwater world is also worth visiting. We recently have revamped our beaches, so the water and sand is not too bad.

You might want to leave Sentosa in the evening and head down to Night Safari. From the same Harbourfront station, do a transfer and get to Ang Mo Kio station, where you take bus 138. The whole journey would probably take an hour or so.

On the 2nd day, you might want to either continue with your park hopper specials, or visit the city area. For shopping, the Orchard Road belt and the others within its vicinity is not exactly cheap. For really cheap bargains in Singapore, try Bugis Village opposite Bugis MRT station, or Chinatown at Chinatown Station.

Hope it helps.

Your idea is so helpful.. thanks Mysidnil. A follow-up question though, what time should we leave Sentosa to be able to reach Safari with enough time to stroll before the park closes?

Hi,

Leaving latest at 6pm is a good idea. You'll probably reach Night Safari by 7.30pm, leaving you with ample time to walk around.

Do leave before 11pm because public transport ends slightly after midnight. Otherwise you'll end up taking a taxi back, which will cost around $30/taxi to your hotel. Take the bus 138 back to AMK station and drop off at Dhoby Ghaut. Another 5-10mins walk will lead you back to the hotel.

The Singapore Night Safari has a Shuttle Bus Service that brings Tourists direct from the City to the Park every nite. You should use this service as the bus pick-up point is very close to your hotel. Your pick-up point is number 6. Ask your hotel reception to point you the direction of Selegie Road.

For a single trip fee of $4, visitors can pop by any of the following hotels at various pick-up timing for a convenient and comfortable ride to the Night Safari. There are 2 pick-up timing every nite. The journey is only 30mins. It is better than trying to take the public transport by yourselves which may take you over an hour !

Time of Pick-up and Pick-up points from City are as follows :

1) 6.30pm and 7.30pm - Orchard Hotel (Bus-stop outside Delfi Orchard)

2) 6.35pm and 7.35pm - DFS Galleria Scotts Road (DFS lobby)

3) 6.40pm and 7.40pm - Sheraton Towers (Outside hotel lobby)

4) 6.50pm and 7.50pm - Grand Hyatt Hotel (Bus bay outside hotel)

5) 6.55pm and 7.55pm Le Meridian Hotel (Taxi stand at Kramat Lane)

6) 7.05pm and 8.05pm - Hotel Rendezvous (Bus stop opposite hotel along Selegie Road)

Coming back from Night Safari, Bus leaves Night Safari daily at:

8.30pm, 10.00pm, 10.45pm. Additional service at 11.45pm for Fridays, Saturdays and Eve of Public Holidays Only.
