Peanut allergy

We’re getting excited now to go to Singapore for the Grand Prix. My son has recently been diagnosed with a peanut allergy and carries an epipen. Does anyone know how clued up the food court/restaurant staff are on allergies. I’ve got a feeling we might struggle in the Hawker centres etc. I would be grateful if anyone has any advice or personal recommendations of where to eat. Thanks x

Peanut allergy is not common for Asians.

I don’t have experience with allergies but I do think you might struggle at he hawkers. Many do speak English to some degree but it is broken and it is not always easy to understand them.

I should imagine a great deal of Asian food in general has a risk of peanut contamination. Either by ingredients, oil or just within the kitchen and equipment used. As it’s not common in Asia I’m not sure how seriously they take it.

There are of course lots of hotels and bigger restaurants/ chains which will probably be much better equipped to manage.

This is all my opinion however and as I say no actual experience, so i could be wrong.
