Would appreciate the forums' opinion of this hotel. Singapore Air feature it on their discounted hotels scheme. We are looking for a hotel for a two night stop-over en-route to Auckland and thought this sounded like fun.
I have looked at it on occasion as something different to try on my regular trips. But it’s usually a bit overpriced in my opinion. I ended up choosing a nearby hotel, also with loft rooms for a couple of nights, just to try it as I like something different and hadn’t actually stayed near Robertson Quay before.
That area was quite nice, the one I chose had easy access to stroll along the river and walk over Alkaff Bridge to a handy bus stop. Plenty of bars restaurants and some good cafes in the vicinity.
I’d say from M Social hotel you would need to rely on taxis or ask hotel staff the route to walk to a bus stop, then switch to the MRT train to get around.
Read all the reviews. If you like things a little quirky, and that 1990s designer decor vibe then it would be interesting.
Avanti- that was a very helpful post. Many thanks
We are only staying 2 nights and thought it might be a change to stay in the Downtown area. We have on a previous visit stayed near Orchard Road but since we are not that interested in going shopping, we thought it might be a good idea to stay down by the water. Four star accommodation is favoured but not the corporate/business kind.
What say you Avanti ?
There are several hotels in that Riverside area, but most are brand-name chain hotels like Intercontinental Robertson Quay, Novotel, Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay, Park Hotel Clarke Quay, Four Points by Sheraton, Swissotel Merchant Court etc. Or older traditional style hotels some with renovated decor like Grand Copthorne Waterfront or those in need of an update like Furama Riverfront hotel. Those aren’t really quirky or different like M Social or Studio M Hotel which is the one it stayed at near Robertson Quay.
You have not mentioned a specific budget in local currency SGD$ per room per night so it’s hard to give specific recommendations. In other city areas you could look at 4 star or smaller locally stylish hotels like -
One Farrer Hotel and Spa (easy access to Farrer Park MRT)
Hotel Clover 33 Jalan Sultan (Bugis area)
The Amoy Hotel
Oasia Downtown Hotel, Tanjong Pagar area
Parkroyal on Pickering Hotel, Clarke Quay
Naumi Hotel, Seah Street, City Hall area
Rendezvous Hotel, Bras Basah Road/Dhoby Ghaut
Link Hotel, Tiong Bahru
Aqueen Heritage Little India
The Daulat hotel
Ann Siang House, Chinatown area
Avnti - once again, thanks. I would say we would like to pay 240SGD or under. We will be there for New Years Eve. Would prices increase at that time?
Like all big cities I guess, prices would probably be higher for NYE. Start checking prices now and book as soon as you find something you like.
Thank you. Flights book. Hotel pending. Getting very excited about our return.
Sounds good. If you have any other questions please ask us all. We are always here.
