can not decide on what hotel!

Hi people I cant decide on what Hotel to stay in. Will be visiting with my family in Late Sep for 7 n ights. I was first thinking of a three star hotel...such as m hotel, golden landmark etc? What are 3 * hotels like in Singapore? And was thinking of saving money on a three star and the money we save spend it on shopping, instead of a 5 star hotel! what say?

In addition we will be moving on to Bali for 2 weeks so will have more expense in terms of hotels. We are basicly looking at Hotels for under £80 a night (around ($160 us)

Thanks people look forward to replies.

The 2 good choice for budget Hotel are:

(1) YMCA international

U can check rate with Hotel direct

http://www.ymcaih.com.sg/rates.htm

OR www.asiabesthotel.com

(2) Strand Hotel

http://www.strandhotel.com.sg/

Good rate for family room.(can stay up to 5 or 6 person).

They are both centrally located and near MRT station.

Good Luck

My dear friend, for 80pounds, you can get quite a good hotel of say 4*. you may even try you luck at hotel at teh marina area. but do not go to your agent, they will definitely charge you more. Try local SG website, you can get an idea what your 80quid can do for you. go asiarooms.com and see what''s the pricing there. Not surprising, you can get good deals.

Several years ago, my UK classmate came to SG booking through agent in UK which charge in 50quid for budget hotel. For that price, you can book a 3* hotel here. In the end, I booked a budget hotel for him with in-house TV and shower, 15 mins walk to MRT for just SG$48 nett

You can try look up for the various hotel from the sites below. I am not sure whether you are looking for package type from your local agent or willing to venture on your own. However, I believe booking from you agent could be more expensive like those days I used to do when I was in Birmingham. Unless you can find SIA promotions which I am not sure whether they still do it now.

Taxi from Airport is plenty and goes by meter, but with surcharge of $5 from Airport. My guess, it will probably cost you less than SG$20 to reach for about 20 min drive. along the east coast expressway. (ECP).

Corpthorn Merchant court is not bad and I think is within your budget. Its a 4* hotel next to the SG river. across the river, Novotel Hotel and Clark Quay with shopping and pubs. Slightly further down by foot, about 15min, you will reach Raffles City. Next to the hotel is Clark Quay MRT station. Hope this helps
