8 hour stopover with 2 children (5 & 3)

We are flying back from Phuket to Perth via Singapore in July. We have an 8 hour day stopover in Singapore and I wondered:

1. Should we take the free city tour (is it interesting enough for 2 small children or would they get bored quickly)?

2. Can we/should we leave the airport and explore the city ourselves?

3. What sort of things can we do to keep the kids entertained for 8 hours in the airport if we don't leave the airport at all.

4. Would it be possible to fit in a visit to the zoo?

Thanks.

if u need help regarding the city tour, which i advise u go if u choose not to visit the zoo.

URL

visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home…

and naturally go for the Sentosa option. sentosa is very family friendly.

if u leave and explore the city ur kids will go crazy cuz its mainly shopping and sightseeing.... actually its mainly shopping.

zoo is possible, althou it be nice if u had more time.

itd prob take u an slightly less than hr to reach the zoo by cab. ceteris paribus, ull reach the zoo by 12:30 in time for lunch and Ben & jerry's u can tour till bout 4 when u ought to be heading back to the airport. the zoo closes in an hr or two for the night safari, waste u cant catch that but id say the zoo is the best option for ur kids. but it will be pretty costly. and u shd catch the only tropical polar bear inuka, before hes gone which is pretty soon.

the zoo option will cost u $45 for entry (w/o tram option) and add another $40 for taxi to and fro.

Hi,

be advised that on the first floor of the airport terminal you have

- a small theater

- playstations

- internet connection

all are free.

it may keep them busy for 1-2 hours :p

1) Free City Tour - u have a few options but I think your kids might enjoy the cultural tour which includes the bumboat ride.

2) U can also use the complimentary city shuttle to town, options :

Suntec

Bugis - i would suggest this as there is a water feature here that is fun for the kids and there is enough shopping and dining for everyone, only one stop to City Hall where u can bring the kids to check out Raffles hotel (in the arcade u can sit around while the kids run around a little) or enjoy Suntec, Marina Square or Raffles City or Chimjes

Little India

This is a good option as u will still be a transit passenger than a out of immigration traveler but u can also opt to go out of immigration and take a cab to explore the city on your own.

3) U have a ton of activities for kids at Changi Airport :

there is an indoor playground where a huge TV is right next to it with quite a few chairs (provided a lot of grown ups are not already hogging those chairs)

There are free movies to watch, gardens to walk around in, a fun ride on the sky trains (between terminals), or they can take a swim and of course, there is the new family room (really cool with TV for kids as well as a separation for the parents without them being out of sight !

4) u can visit the zoo if u choose, it is a nice park, having a 3 yr old, he/she may not last too long anyways so 2 hours is enough for getting a feel of the park

Good luck and enjoy
