Day in Sinapore with heavy Luggage

Hi, We are doing a cruise into Singapore and expect to be "thrown" off the ship around 8:00am. Unfortunately our flight home does not depart until 8:00pm. From previous visits we know the shops don't open until 10:00 or later. We also know it rains a lot.

Can we check our Baggage in with Qantas, the airline we are flying with, early? Is there "Left Luggage at the Cruise Centre? Any other options or suggestions?

We are both seniors and whilst we can walk OK we struggle with two suit cases each.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, DavidEastFremantle.

There is a very handy solution for you:

Don't let your baggage burden you. Cruise terminal luggage service wiil take care of your baggage and you take care of your business. Have time for leisure between your morning cruise arrival and night flight departure without the bruden of your luggage, or between your morning flight arrival and evening cruise boarding. They'll welcome and meet you on your arrival at the arrival waiting area after custom clearance. Leave your bags to them and we'll safely store them for you. You will receive your bags from us near your airport check-in counter or cruise check-in counter.

Im pretty certain Qantas takes early check-in at Changi of that sort of time period, if not then the airport certainly has left luggage in all the terminals so you could go there and dump the bags and then hop into a taxi and come back to the city. Whether you leave the luggage at either the cruise centre or airport or go get checked in early you will have to do a double taxi run at some stage, so you might as well get it out of the way and get the bags to the airport, whether it is for checking in or left luggage.

Rain shouldnt affect you that much (at least by the law of averages), summaries of SIngapore weather simply do not adequately describe how the rain occurs -for most summaries a day is scored as rainy if any part of the country gets rain - a) it might not hit where you are and b) when it hits its normally a heavy cloudburst that last 30-60mins and then disappears. Extended rain does happen but it is rare in comparison. You want to be aware of rain and you may well see it, but it should not normally be overly inconvenienced by it. A lot depends on what you are doing for that day you are in SIngapore.

If you get off the boat by 8am, then you should be able to get to the airport and drop the luggage off by 9am - which means any full day attraction is your oyster...
