Manila to Cebu???

Hello: Our Emirates Dubai flight arrives Manila, Sunday 8th December at 4:00pm. Assuming no hold ups what onward flight would I catch to Cebu? Allowing for luggage pick-up, passport control, customs and check-in for onwards flight. Thanks in advance.

Which terminal will your flight land at? That would decide it for me.

Fly PAL if the Emirates flight will use terminal 1 or fly Cebu Pacific if the Emirates flight will use Terminal 3.

Both PAL and Cebu Pacific have late evening flights to Mactan Cebu.

Thanks everyone for your swift replies. Didn't think it would take so long to get through security etc., Air Asia have some cracking promo fare deals for my date, planes departing 18:20 or 20:40. Thoughts anyone?

My intention is to spend 2 nights at Quest hotel before onwards to Palawan or Bohol for a few nights and then onwards to Boracay. Does that sound o.k.? Love beautiful scenery and sight-seeing during the day- not divers- but at night time enjoy a bit of buzz.

Have travelled extensively in SE Asia but this is first time to Philippines. Have about 12-14 days to see the best of Philippines...

Greetings Bill49MPR-

Yes, plan for the unexpected in Manila. Its not uncommon for it to take 45 min to get from T2 to T3 (where you will catch your flight to Cebu) As they say, Its more fun in the Philippines.

I would spend the night at the Marriott (see my review) which is Directly across the street from T3. Although you can take your night flight onwards to Cebu, you might be tired from your trip from Europe.

A warning about Air Asia. They are ok, and can sometimes (50%) be delayed.

Your Trip sounds great. You picked the top three destinations I would. I would spend most of your time in Palawan, then bohol then Bora. Only go to Bora for the night life IF thats what you are into because you will get your fix in Palawan. Reccomend either Tagaytay or Batanes as alternates. Check my Boracay Fridays Review..

I fully agree with SonicSpringBok regarding Air Asia. Best avoid Air Asia if you are on a tight schedule.

You still haven't said which terminal your plane will use in Manila. We need that first as it makes a big difference. Air Asia's poor on time performance will not matter for a departure from Manila. As it will not matter if they are running late going to Cebu. But, don't rely on Air Asia to get you to an international flight in Manila on time.

You will have to back track to get between all of your chosen destinations.

As far as I am aware,

- you can only fly from Manila or Cebu to Palawan.

- You can only fly from Manila, Clark or Cebu to Caticlan or Kalibo for Boracay.

- You can only fly from Tagbilaran Bohol to Manila. Although there is a whole fliotilla of boats travelling between Cebu City and Bohol.

Back tracking means lost days and you don't have many days to start with. My suggestions are to cut out Boracay or Palawan or arrange to be in the Philippines longer.

By the way, for December, you need to book everything straight away to make sure you stay at your preferred hotel. If you will travel by fast ferry to Bohol from Cebu City, buy the ticket on the day after you land in Cebu. Do not try and buy the ticket on the day of travel as December, even early December is when I have often seen foreigners sitting in the wait listed area because the fast ferries are full.

Quest is a good choice. I have not stayed in a room but I have been inside the hotel and it looks magnificent from the lobby. Why it is good is because it is located in a good part of the city, opposite Ayala Mall. So you have access to everything you need such as banks with ATM machines, money changers, pharmacies, supermarkets, cinemas and best of all the Terraces which is several levels of indoor and out door dining choices.

For an ATM, use HSBC. They have 2 ATM machines inside with a guard on the door 24/7. The machines will dispense up to P40,000 on a single withdrawal. HSBC uses CIRRUS, PLUS, VISA, MASTERCARD and maybe some other systems.. The machines do not charge an additional P200 fee like all other banks in the Philippines. At least, they do not charge me. HSBC is opposite Ayala Mall on the opposite side of Ayala Mall to the Quest. Normally you can access HSBC from the Terraces at Ayala Mall but access is blocked off at the moment while they expand Ayala Mall.

You can get a lot of a buzz within a mile of Quest. There are multiple discos and night clubs which go all night and there are multiple bikini bars which close about 4am. Some of the restaurants at the Terraces have live bands at night. Especially Saturday night. Plus there is a Casino 10 minutes walk from Quest in the Waterfront Hotel Lahug. There is even an Irish pub where the discos are on Mango Square but coming from Ireland, you will probably not be impressed with it's level of Irishness.

Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate all the comments, they are of a great help. Big Jim our Dubai flight lands at International 1 terminal. Expect we will be a little tired (getting on a bit) but thought we would get the flying bit out of the way rather than overnight in Manila and given there later flights to Cebu thought we would make our way directly there.

Arrive 8th December, Spend a couple of nights in Cebu before onwards to Bohol or Palawan. I see I cant travel between these two without back tracking to Cebu. May have to settle for one or the other.

Depart Cebu 16th and onwards to Boracay for 4 or 5 nights.

Back to Manila 20 or 21st for 2 or 3 nights.

Depart Monday 23rd for onwards to Chiang Mai to meet with friends for Christmas. This being our first time to Philippines we want to get a taster of the cities and beaches. It is so difficult to filter into 2 weeks everything we would like to do without wasting a lot of time travelling. Reading these blogs and viewing others photo's have left it difficult for me to make a choice. I hadn't realised just how beautiful your country is! Thanks again to everyone who has taken their time to reply.

16.20 Air Asia flight is most likely doable but would not be comfortable for me. I would prefer the 20.40 flight.

As, i already stated, from terminal 1, i would prefer to fly PAL from Terminal 2. If traffic is a problem getting between terminals, you can just get out and walk. Here is a map of the airport so you can see the distances. By the way, i have been stuck in traffic at the airport when walking has been a quicker option.

If they had a sky way like Changi, getting around would not be an issue but to get between terminals at NAIA, you have to go by public road and your flight will arrive in peak traffic.

If I was to fly PAL, I would choose the 7.35 pm flight, By the way, as a full service airline, you will not have an issue with luggage.

At Mactan Cebu, just get a yellow airport taxi to Quest. The yellow airport taxis will be on the right as you exit the arrivals hall and will cost around P300 from the airport to Quest.

Only you can decide between Palawan and Bohol. Bohol will certainly be the simplest option.
