Villa Simprosa

My family will be travelling to Boracay on the 3rd week of May 2007, and someone recommended that we stay in Villa Simprosa. The room rate is 1800/night, cleanliness is a big deal for me and I will really appreciate it if someone could tell me if this cottage is clean.

We haven't paid our downpayment for the room though.

Thank you.

Hello! I stayed at Villa Simprosa last week of November in 2006. Cleanliness? Yes, it is clean, with running water at that. But you said you will be going there with your family. I presume you will be there with your kids. Please understand that Villa Simprosa is in Station 2. It is where the action is. So, expect a whole lot of noise and hoopla there. We were a bunch (4 actually) of guys, gym friends who aren't exactly rowdy, but who went to Boracay for the fun and the action. Villa Simprosa worked very fine for us. But, you see, guys are very tolerant and we were hardly in the room. When we retired to our room, it's either we were very tired from the action or we were drunk and ready to fall apart. For your additional info, Villa Simprosa is a three-storey affair. Each room has its own balcony (the wrap-up kind). It's clean, all right, but with your kids with you, I am not about to recommend it for you. Villa Simprosa has its plus, though. Mr. Pascual who owns the place is such a friendly old chap he is so helpful with information about Boracay. However, it's your children I'm kinda worried about. Surely, you want them to have a memorable Boracay experience. But for single guys, Villa Simprosa is perfect! Hear from you? -- okeechobee, Manila, Philippines

hi okeechobee!

Yes we'll be travelling with 1 kid, he's used to sleeping in a noisy athmosphere though, he even doozed off during the New Years Eve's celebration. Thanks for being the first to reply.

Somewhere a little further from the party zone might be a better plan for those with small children. The crowds on the beach during the day could also spoil your family fun.

Hello! Is that your kid in the picture? The other reply to your query seems very sensible. What I had in mind really was to suggest a resort with a garden atmosphere so your kid can romp around. I was going to suggest Red Coconut or, if you really prefer the center of the action which is Station 2, probably Isla Gecko. You could check other websites with information on hotels. One is www.boracayisland.org or www.boracay.net.

Besides, all the time we were at Villa Simprosa, I didn't see any child in the area. A few of my friends were talking great about a resort called Seabird. I haven't seen it but you can get information on the Boracay websites i mentioned.

Will be back in Boracay either 28FEB or 07MAR. I'll try and find the time to check other resorts and I will update you, if it ain't too late by then. Hear from you again?

I'd suggest somewhere either north of station 1 or south of station 3 for families with young children. It's better for kids to have more space to play on the beach - they could end up getting lost in the crowds of party-goers in the middle part of the island.

hi okeechobee & sirenna!

Yes that's our kid in the picture he's already 2 yearto run on the beach. And because we'll be staying for 3 nights we're on a tight budget below 2k per night on accomodations. Beachfront cottages on station 1 are expensive for our budget and friends advised against station 3 because the sand on that part of the island are not as clean as the other 2 stations during summer. Also we want to stay near D'Mall.

Our trip will be during weekdays so I bet there'll be fewer people than weekend trips right? Our boy loves crowds he spent our last trip to the beach running around waving to the people on the beach.

Thanks!

In the area south of station 3 the beach is much cleaner than at station 2 where the crowds drop all their garbage! Your friend's comments were incorrect.

Hi there!... seems like your li'l boy's gonna grow up to be some sociable young man... while i agree that the resorts in station 1 or 3

may be suitable for those with kids, i have a funny feeling those places might just get your boy bored... i haven't stayed at any resort in station 3 but i hang around there quite a lot when i was there in november... to be in touch with myself and to commune with nature... it is really quiet, away from the crowds... may work well with some kids, but maybe not for a gregarious boy like your son... besides, you mentioned that you like to be near D Mall... i can identify with you there... i like a combination of beach and metropolitan feel... if that's big deal for you, i guess you might as well stay in station 2... while station 2 attracts more people compared to the two others, i think it isn't really crowded... there is still a lot of space to move around and play in... it ain't like your personal space being invaded or threatened... unless of course it's summer peak... then, that's a diff'rent story altogether... still, i'd like you to check out isla gecko... it's worth considering... i have moved my boracay vacation to 14-17MAR... will check out other resorts and will let you know when i get back... hear from you?

Okeechobee, you were there in November when it was quiet - you should see it now!!! It's choked with people already and it's not even the busiest time! It drives me nuts trying to walk around there as it's full of "meanderthals" (you know, those people shuffling about aimlessly with their mouths open, getting in the way and not looking where they are going) and Korean package tourists taking pictures of lamp posts! But then I don't really understand "mall culture", or why people would come to a beautiful tropical island to hang out in a mall when they can do that back home in the city. For me, the island has many more special attractions than that!

But yes, do give Isla Gecko a look - it's a nice friendly family run place, reasonably priced, and should be quiet at night.
