Coron/El Nido or both?

Hi,

I have a week in the Philippines and I like the look of Palawan. I am an avid scuba diver and would like to combine this with other sightseeing.

From the research I did, El Nido looks amazing but very difficult to get to. Coron looks like it has great wreck diving but not much else.

In an ideal world I would do both, but it seems that 1 week will be hard to accomplish that.

It is easier to get to Coron thanks to commercial flights available from Manila, but it seems that there is a lot less to do and see.

What do you think the best option is for 1 week?

Thanks,

Doron

Hello Crunchy

A week's not long to Dive in Coron and then go to El Nido and back, and doing both won't lead to a relaxing holiday.

Coron is beautiful but once you've done diving (mainly wrecks) the options are a little limited.

El Nido is not as good for diving but the bacuit archipelago is easily accessible and there are beautiful beaches nearby, and reasonable nightlife too.

You can get a ITI flight to El Nido, but can't book ahead - you could take your chance when you get to manila? But if there's no flight you've wasted a day.

Have you considered anywhere else? Like Bohol? The diving is spectacular with nice beaches and great day trips nearby, or Moalboal? Bohol is easy to get to - flights to Tagbiliran are regular, also for Moalboal - flights to Cebu-Mactan, then a bus to the resort.
